Roma - Lateran Baptistery

The domed octagonal Lateran Baptistery was founded by Pope Sixtus III in 440. It stands near the Lateran palace and Archbasilica of St. John Lateran.
This baptistry was in the early times the only baptistery in Rome. Its octagonal structure is centered upon the large octagonal basin for full immersions. Unfortunately the baptistery behind a "Do not Cross" ribbon and locked.
