Billy - Le Château

The village of Billy is topped by the large ruin of the former castle, that was erected in the early 13th century. This was an important bourbon place, having its height in the 15th and 16th century. It fell into ruins after the French Revolution. Meanwhile, bought by village from the former owners, it is well mantained by the local Tourist Office. Another place to visit in (near to) Billy is the crypt under the church Saint-Cyr-Sainte-Julitte, but the crypt, dating back to the 11th century, was locked. I was told, that there is a key at the Tourist Office, but it was too early to ask.
Needless to say, the "Billy le Kit" has nothing to do with this french village. It is swedish - and comes from Ikea, and infamous "Billy the Kid" did not come from here either.
