Sunday noon along the pole line

Life in the North Country.
I took this picture, looking North along the pole line (at the edge of my property), around hight noon on 1 December. You can see the sun has risen only high enough to light the tops of the trees. I thought the sun reached about 9 degrees above the horizon this time of year but alas, it's only 3 degrees I found this out by going to NOAA's sun position calculator: www.esrl.noaa.gov/gmd/grad/solcalc
So! The days will be getting shorter and shorter (We've less than 5 hours twix sunrise and sunset now) and the sun will be getting a bit lower until the winter solstice. Then we'll be over the hump, the sun will rise higher and the days longer!
