Benedicte, on her '2 vagues' posting here on flickr, noted that: "Hokusai is always an inspiration."
Quite true and Benedicte Delachanal is also always, for me, an inspiration as well as Hokusai Katsushika!
So! Benedicte's interpretation of Hokusai's 'Wave off Kanagawa' from his 36 views of Mount Fuji, inspired me to do this pastel in negative form (black for white, yellow for blue, etc.) and then invert the image digitally so the black becomes white, etc.
So, so! For the inspiration, thank you Benedicte, & thanks to Hokusai and also thanks to Fred Hatt, a NYC artist, who got me thinking about negative images!
