蛙 Frog

After viewing Steve's homage to Matsuo Basho www.flickr.com/photos/34757743@N08/6127217760/in/photostream, I was reminded of one of Basho's haikus: 古池 蛙飛び込む 水の音 (furu ike ya kawazu tobikomu mizu no oto) of which there are scores of English translations, one of which; An ancient pond, A frog jumps in. Splash!
-Which led me to write : Down at the river/ Not one person notices/ When the frog jumps out! -A haiku after Matsuo Bashō-
Which led me to do the above painting.
Sumi-e, on 'rice' paper, unmounted. Approximately 17 by 14 inches.
