The last bus to suburbia

Back when I worked for a living I never really had a long commute (that's not quite true, I did have a 400+ mile commute when I worked on the North Slope, -but I only had to do that once a week, by air plane, so it only took a bit over an hour.), and I've always had a problem understanding how and why folks could/would move far in to the suburbs, work an eight hour day in the city and do a 3 hour commute each way, leaving then less than 10 hours at home, -but, when I lived in New York City, I knew many people that did so. Oh well, to each his own.
