Over 50 years ago I was in the Old Absinthe House, on Bourbon Street, in New Orleans and there was this blues piano player...
I swear he was playing the cracks between the keys as I've never ever, before or since, heard such amazing notes come out of a piano!

I wonder if it might have been Fats Pichon, he was house pianist at the Old Absinthe House for many years.

Infrogmation of New Orleans The dates are right, & looking back from 60 years at his picture, it could well have been him. The playing was absolutely mind blowing.
