sun column

Yesterday my un-met friend, Rachel (A.K.A. Spinneretta) posted, on her flickr site. a great moon column. Subsequently I done did this sun column!
On a trip back from Anchorage there was a great sun column as the sun set in the west. However, from the road, there was a power transmission line marring the view. I drove about 20 miles looking for a cut to the left where I could get past the power lines to take a photograph but... alas.. by the time I reached one the column was gone! None the less, we've our memories and now, this sketch.
Mixed media (colored pencil and soft pastel) on appox. 12" X 12" colored stock.
