A day at the Races

Treasure Hunt: Vice Versa- background I kept my lens at a wider focal length to maintain depth of field here, the crucial difference being that the distances between camera to subject and subject to background are actually greater than those in last months contribution where I got in real close to a flower. that shot was taken at f2.8 to minimize depth of field while this one was shot only 2 stops smaller at f6.

Treasure Hunt: Reflection in a puddle. Not had a lot of rain lately, or at least not while I had the camera handy! Was just about to set something up on a tabletop when I spotted this after a 'clean-up' on the pavement under the London Eye

White Willow

02 Jun 2015 1 290
Treasure Hunt: Medicinal Plants; When I was young and I had a headache I would simply stick my head out of a window... that would get rid of the Pane! :-}} A favourite with the Druids, this plant is well documented in history as being properly medicinal. Ancient Pharonic hieroglyphs, Sumerian texts and ancient Greek records dating back beyond 2000bc have it listed as anti-inflammatory. The active ingredient is 'Salicin' which, when treated with sodium salicylate becomes acetylsalicylic acid otherwise known today as 'Aspirin' White Willow grows all over Eurasia.
