There is Ash Dieback so Health and Safety has gone into overdrive although dead or alive they would probably stand for years quite safely. the NT seem to have developed a passion for felling trees they also like clearing either side of a narrow path and calling it a ride

Annemarie, Berny, Mariagrazia Gaggero, Fred Fouarge and 6 other people have particularly liked this photo

It's not an area that gets a lot of visitors it's to far from the car parks, if it's replanted it won't the same it's old limestone workings that nature has reclaimed over the years.
I'm afraid the NT do a lot of strange things nowadays

while the downed trees make this a really cool photo - i live in a very tree full city and am always saddened when trees are removed (people need permits to remove certain trees here).

i find it kind of sad that we think we can 'manage' nature. there are always debates here about removing trees from forests - clear cut or individually - they never can seem to decide which it better.

but i digress. i really like your composition and the beauty of the scene here. quite a delight.
