Electric cars aren't a new concept.
This is a 1972 Crompton Leyland "Electricar" - sadly, this was just a prototype, achieving a low weight with the available battery technology & materials were incompatible aims at the time ... although milk floats [etc] had been produced for many years, for these vehicles weight and high speed were lesser considerations.

By the size I would call this a shopping basket on wheels - a bit like the FIAT126 my mother had at around that time [spookily, it's even a similar colour]
