The second period of extreme heat in the summer of 2022 resulted in the UK's Met Office issuing warnings of extreme heat, including the first ever at the RED warning level. That is : TAKE ACTON - risk to life.
Many places recorded vrey high temperatures, the hottest was on 19 July, when a temperature of 40.3 °C (104.5 °F) was recorded at Coningsby, Lincolnshire, the hottest temperature ever recorded in the United Kingdom's Met Office history.
The hot and dry weather also saw increased incidents of so-called "wildfires" with significant levels of damage, sadly, some of these were actually deliberate arson.
