The low level wall is the site of the westernmost fireplace in the New Hall, with kitchen behind the camera. This New Hall dates from a building phase during the period 1200 to 1250, approximately.
The Curtain wall has the "herringbone" pattern typical of the early building phases in the 11th century.
The Bench - modern - is in a suntrap and very sheltered [but would be shaded by the height of the New Hall buildings].
