One of the proposals to reduce demand for gas-fired central heating is the installation of heat pumps [air or ground source].
A major barrier to accessing this technology is the very high capital costs of installations, especially retro-fitting ground source pumps to an existing domestic building.
The UK government have promised to implement a subsidy scheme. The drawback to their plan is that the amount per installation is much less than the projected costs, and there is only enough £££ for a limited number of grants.
