O&S (meme) - job descriptions [1881]
![O&S (meme) - job descriptions [1881] O&S (meme) - job descriptions [1881]](https://cdn.ipernity.com/200/28/16/50472816.9e5f6cfe.640.jpg?r2)

Some very interesting "job descriptions" from the 1881 census, some of these self-written descriptions seem to be deliberately humorous to modern eyes.
Of those listed, I recognise two !
A knocker-up went around banging on bedroom windows, to wake people for their "early shift" - I know about it from reading about careers on the railways. It still existed in the years before the Somerset & Dorset was closed.
Random Waller - probably refers to dry stone walling, or building a rubble walls, ie those without the distinct courses visible in brickwork.
