gbw - under yew


This spreading yew tree is reputed to be 1300 to 1400 years old. Martindale. The tomb dates from c1700 and is that of Richard Birkett, The first "Vicar" of Martindale and held the living for nearly 67 years between 1633 and his death in 1699.
