Amazing photo of this egret. He's got the look of an eagle in those eyes

These were introduced to North America in the 1950's and have spread across the southern states but have not yet spread to Washington. We saw a lot of them when we lived in Texas and have seen them on our trips to the southwest.

Excellent capture Steve, pin sharp detail, great focus on the eyes.
Got up at 5 o clock this morning drove 30 miles to WWT Welney to see 300+ Whooper swans that had arrived recently. The centre was shut but I could see the swans from the car park. It was dry when I left but on arrival it was raining so hard I couldn't even get out of the car. The swans started to leave for the surrounding fields while I was still in the car. Going to try again Friday.

I don't know if you can on Friday Maurice, the lockdown will be starting on Thursday. My reserve is closing for the shutdown and so is the zoo. I will be setting up feeding stations in the local woods to try and stay photographing birds.

I could still go as I don't need to go in to the centre, the car park has no gates and there is also one spot along the road I could view from. My trip could be perceived as non essential travel though.
