St. Paul de Mausole, St-Rémy-de-Provence, France Questo (altra visione qui sotto) è il chiostro del monastero trasformato in ospedale psichiatrico che ospitò per circa un anno Van Gogh, dopo che il genio tormentato si era amputato l’orecchio ad Arles. In quel lasso di tempo dipinse 150 opere tra oli e acquerelli, alcune delle quali capolavori immortali. L'ospedale è attivo ancora oggi, con ben altri metodi di cura; tra questi anche la arte-terapia, ritenuta molto utile alla riabilitazione dei malati. La parte visitabile è ovviamente molto limitata, in essa è stata anche ricostruita la camera di Van Gogh che in realtà si trovava in un'altra zona. Helianthus tuberosus, conosciuto qui da noi anche come rapa tedesca o carciofo di Gerusalemme. E da Manel nyàmera :) Il nome generico (Helianthus) deriva da due parole greche ”helios” (= sole) e ”anthos” (= fiore) in riferimento alla tendenza di alcune piante di questo genere a girare sempre il capolino verso il sole, comportamento noto come eliotropismo. Il nome specifico (tuberosus) indica una pianta perenne, il cui organo di sopravvivenza è un tubero. I tuberi di topinambur si raccolgono in inverno, sono molto nutrienti e la cottura di solito è simile alle patate, ma io li cuocio in umido, lasciandoli un po' al dente; infatti il tubero può essere consumato anche crudo con sale e pepe. The Peace rose, correctly Rosa 'Madame A. Meilland', is a well-known and successful garden rose. By 1992, over one hundred million plants of this hybrid tea had been sold. The cultivar has large flowers of a light yellow to cream color, slightly flushed at the petal edges with crimson-pink. It is hardy and vigorous and relatively resistant to disease, making it popular in gardens as well as in the floral trade. It was developed by French horticulturist Francis Meilland in the years 1935 to 1939. When Meilland foresaw the German invasion of France, he sent cuttings to friends in Italy, Turkey, Germany, and the United States to protect the new rose. It is said that it was sent to the US on the last plane available before the German invasion where it was safely propagated by the Conard Pyle Co. during the war.
