The Sunday Challenge = Black and white -------------------------------------------------------- When asked what colour the word black or the word white has in this image, your mind gets in a twist, a state of cognitive dissonance. You see black where the answer should be white and v.v. Cognitive dissonance is the mental discomfort (psychological stress) experienced by a person who simultaneously holds two or more contradictory beliefs, ideas, or values. This discomfort is triggered by a situation in which a belief of a person clashes with new evidence perceived by that person. When confronted with a situation like this people will find a way to resolve the contradiction in order to reduce their discomfort A psychic mechanism then comes into play to eliminate the tension by bringing the ideas into line with each other, thus restoring the peace of mind, for instance: "Luc turned this image negative, he is a fool to do so, it's ugly and bad taste." Cognitive dissonance can be a driving force to develop new ideas, but can also lead people to shut themselves off for information that refutes their beliefs. The Sunday Challenge = Contrast, new shots please ---------------------------------------------- Reliving history, the American Civil War, with actors playing blue against grey, North against South. The grey dressed soldier on the left played dead until the end of this roleplay. Afterwards they had a few beers together.....;-) No bullets, but real gunpowder, who asked for new shots?

Every euro coin carries a common European face. The obverse sides of each coin bears a different national design for each member state. Some states have only one single design on all their coins, others have a different design on each of the eight different coins, while some states have between two and five different designs. Many people in the Eurozone cannot tell which country every euro coin comes from. Some are easy to tell, others are not. Because there are 12 members, plus 3 minor states. and 8 different coin denomination or values, that makes 120 different coins.
