AD_Wurlitzer_1100

This colorful Wurlitzer ad promises “musical fun for everyone.” The pictured model is the famed 1948 Wurlitzer 1100 – sometimes called the ‘Space Ace’ for obvious reasons. It was the first of the great postwar jukeboxes, and unfortunately the last jukebox designed by Paul Fuller, the man who designed many other classic, easily-recognizable jukeboxes.
The famed commercial artist Albert Dorne painted a whimsical ruckus of a Halloween scene to serve as a backdrop to the 1100; today, we would likewise treasure an unencumbered view of this Machine Age marvel.
