Hindlow Maerz kilns

The two Maerz parallel-flow regenerative (PFR) shaft kilns at the Buxton Lime Industries (now Tarmac), Hindlow Quarry. Production capacity of these kilns, which were installed in 1981, is around 220,000 tonnes of lime per annum. Stone for the kilns was being brought to the site from the Tunstead quarry at this time but is now quarried on site.
