Kiln based

Kiln based
The Great Western Railway built a water tank and pumping station on top of a pair of kilns. Firepool limekilns, Taunton. The kilns were built in the early 1840s at a point where the Bridgwater and Taunton Canal meets the river Tone adjacent to a coal and Culm Wharf established following the arrival of the Bristol and Exeter Railway in 1842. The pumping building dates from c1866 and the tank on top from 1877. Grade II listed.

The ghost sign on the tank reads Van Heusen who were locally based shirt manufacturers.

So that is where they originated. I just checked. I have a business shirt labelled 'Made under licence from the British Van Heusen Company Ltd in Indonesia'.
