Botany Limekiln

There are two kilns at this remote upland site in the Northumberland parish of Bewick. On a sunny day this was a delightful spot but it must have been a terrible place to work when the wind howled and rain poured down. Luckily for those involved, the season for burning in intermittent kilns such as this was usually over by November.
