Street Childrens' Mission

The Manchester and Salford Childrens' Mission was founded by Alfred Alsop in 1869 at premises in Lombard Street, moving to Wood Street in 1873. The premises were extended between 1896 and 1907 when this fine terracotta faced frontage on Bridge Street was completed. The boy and girl faces at third floor level are particularly notable.
Under the title of Wood Street Mission it continues to provide families in need with clothing, bedding, toys and food.
