Saturday Self Challenge: Kunst thuis
Hij schreef in het nawoord: ‘although in the last decade tourist and amateur photographers must have shot thousands of miles of film amongst the ruins…’

Saturday Self Challenge: Art at home
On the photo three books. The book on the right is an issue of the exhibition ‘Nordic Art’ held by the Groninger Museum in 2013. Beautiful and sometimes also very poignant paintings of man and nature in the Nordic countries. For me this book is a kind of must have and I am glad I visited the exhibition.
The book on the left upper corner was owned by an aunt of mine. She created several things herself. The paintings in the book remind me of her colours and I do like the paintings by Turner. As souvenir from a holiday in Wales, UK, I own a set of English stamps with paintings made by Turner.
Two of my aunt’s brothers emigrated to Tasmania (Australia) in 1950, one of them produced several photobooks about the history of Tasmania. This book about Port Arthur was published in 1972. He wrote in the epilogue: although in the last decade tourist and amateur photographers must have shot thousands of miles of film amongst the ruins…. Replace ‘miles of film’ by ‘gigabytes of memory’ and you’ll see there hasn’t been changed much in 50 years.

These are books I would also hold dear! I'm always thinking of reducing the amount of art books/ catalogues and never succeed;-)

A truly eclectic collection. Interesting to see your Port Arthur connection. Love Turner's paintings.
