Ribblehead Viaduct, Yorkshire, England

A Northern Rail 158 evening service passes over the 24 arches of this spectacular viaduct which makes a dramatic statement across this remote wild spot across the moors, in which up to a 100 Navvies died during it's 4 year construction in 1874 in Midland railway's quest for access to Scotland.

Newby Head Pass, Yorkshire, England.

The ever present dramatic skies dance their shadows over the dales. At the top of the pass stood the Newby Head drovers Inn which is now a farm on this high windswept spot 1,425 ft above sea level, it was the fourth highest inn in England. There was plenty of custom from the drovers bringing sheep and cattle to and from Scotland. There drovers, packmen and other travellers called in for a drink and to stay the night at this lonely spot high in the dales. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newby_Head
