Drilling Through the Earth

Drilling Through the Earth
It is said in America that if your drill far enough you will reach China. Apparently, if you begin in Japan, you will eventually surface in San Francisco!

This image was taken with a Kiev-60 medium format film camera with a Carl Zeiss Jena DDR Flektogon 4/50 lens using Rollei CN 200 film, scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.

It looks like a modern version of the Chinese pagoda... (It could be also a gigantic electric isolator...) It stands quite fine against the blue sky. Deserving subject.

The Peace Pagoda is a five-tiered concrete shrine designed by Japanese architect Yoshiro Taniguchi. Installed in 1968, it was a gift from the people of Osaka, San Francisco’s sister city in Japan.
