Best Of All Lookout, Springbrook National Park, Queensland, Australia

One of my favourite places...and home of the ancient Antarctic Beech trees. Nearly everytime I have visited here, this is the view (well actually this is more than I see most times there), total oblivion as the mists/fog roll over the mountain ridge above to block the view of the deep valley below. Sometimes you will get a glimpse of the valley or coastline in the distance through a hole in the clouds of mist. It is damp, often cold, silent, aromatic, and magic. There is nothing like standing alone on the small wooden platform and seeing nothing but white cloud around you in all directions, often even behind you in the direction of the path you have just walked down.
