Where have all the flowers gone?

Well, that's a rather exaggerated question, but when I was on top of Plateau Mountain a few days ago, so many of the wildflowers were over, and when I called in at Reader Rock Garden yesterday, likewise. I always tend to think that August is a great month for flowers, but in fact it is getting rather late in the season for so many species. Always so depressing. I got distracted by photographing owls this year, and so started photographing flowers much later than I usually do. Took this photo of Cosmos at the Trochu Arboretum, Alberta, in the rain on 15 July 2012, on our way back to Calgary after a day (in the rain) at Dry Island Buffalo Jump Provincial Park.
