If I remember correctly, this is the seedhead of a Scabious flower. Seen at Reader Rock Garden.
Just had a VERY long day - my alarm went off at 4:45 a.m. and I left the house at 7:00 a.m. Three of us spent the whole day botanizing the Snake's Head Natural Area, north west of Calgary and then, on the way home, we called in at an interesting site near Water Valley, as guests of Dave and Bernie Amonson who have a quiet nature retreat which they call Brookbury Bridge. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring their nature trail and then were treated to barbecued hotdogs for supper. So, a long, long day of walking, recording and photographing plants and fungi. I got back home about 10:15 p.m. I am DEAD BEAT, but wanted to quickly (if there is such a thing) post my "daily three" to Flickr, LOL.
