Ten-lined June Beetle

This was another insect that was pretty much intact in my 25-year-old bug collection! This is just a wooden tray with a mix of loose legs, wings and antennae, with the very occasional insect that is reasonably whole. About 25 years ago, I was doing a lot of enrichment work as a volunteer teacher with elementary school children. One of the things I did was to use hand lenses with dead insects! My small collection was finally unearthed from my basement recently. I was very pleasantly surprised to see this particular beetle - I've never seen one alive. It is about an inch long.
