Fringed Grass-of-Parnassus

I was so excited to come across this small plant on Saturday when hiking at Grassi Lakes in Kananaskis, west of Calgary. I saw the other Grass-of-Parnassus the other day in Weaselhead, but I think I have only ever seen the Fringed plant once before, maybe twice. The bright spots in the background must be water drops from the huge waterfall, at the edge of which these flowers in bloom. The thrill of the moment left me this morning, when I heard that a woman in her 40's, hiking on the Grassi Lakes Trail, fell and died at the same time that we were hiking there. Such very sad news to hear.
