HELP - CRT or LCD monitor?

My CRT monitor died this morning and I have replaced it with a Samsung LCD monitor. I would really appreciate any feedback, please! I dislike this LCD - I've adjusted the brightness but can't see any place to change the actual colour. All my photos appear pale and washed out and I can't see how on earth I can ever do any accurate photo work using this. Of course, I couldn't do any research this morning because I was without a monitor but now I have done a little. Have read several comments that say you can't do post-photo work on an LCD and that a CRT is definitely best for working with photos. I do NOT like all this pixelated text and poor quality photos, so is a CRT the only /best way to go for photography? It's doing nasty things to my eyes! I will have to go back to the store to ask a few questions, including how (if at all) I can get vibrant, accurate colour instead of this awful washed-out stuff. If anyone happens to read this, I would love any help or suggestions that you might be able to offer!! This has been one of THOSE weeks - had to replace both my washing machine and dryer on Monday!
Guess I should just mention that this photo was taken at the Calgary Zoo (as mentioned in the tags). Though I see quite a few Bald Eagles in the wild, I'm not likely to be able to get a close shot, so this photo allows me to see all that gorgeous detail.
