Explored! Thank you very much :-)

SATURDAY SELF-CHALLENGE
07 SEPTEMBER 2019
PHOTOGRAPH SOMETHING IN THE SHAPE OF A CUBE

I suspended these dice at the end of some cord that was attached to an extendable pole. The neighbours must have thought I had lost the plot :-)) It then took ages to remove the pole and the cord from my photo :-))

And, for 'Sight and Sound' there is only one choice for me. That is "Tumbling Dice" by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards but performed by Linda Ronstadt :-)

This looks fantastic, Roger, and what lengths you went (pun intended. ;-) I can just imagine your neighbors peering out the window at you. :D

Thank you for another fun video of Linda. I never get tired of watching her perform. :)

Also, I use my Mac "Photos" for editing and the "retouch" tool is hopeless for removing things. I sure hope yours was better. :)

Hi again, Karen :-) I do still use an old version of Photoshop 6 and Photoshop Elements. In these programs I would use the cloning tool for removing things. But, a while ago I decided to purchase 'Affinity Photo'. This was available here for a one-off payment of £49.99. Not sure what that is in dollars :-) And, sometimes I have seen it reduced to £39.99! What surprises me is that there is not anything else to pay and I am still getting free updates :-) In 'Affinity Photo' there is an 'Inpainting Brush' that removes unwanted things and most of the time it works amazingly well. Very occasionally it doesn't quite get it right but I find I can sometimes tidy things up with the cloning tool. I now use 'Affinity Photo' pretty much 90% of the time :-)

It sounds like a pretty good program. I'm always surprised by the lack of a "cloning" or "retouching" tool in some editing programs. It seems like everyone might need it sometimes just to clean things up a bit. Maybe it's just me lol. :D

yes, the way you took this is interesting, but i'm fascinated by the objects you have to use for these photos!

do you know about the documentary about Linda - out soon (maybe already out): Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice

Hi Laura. These are sometimes called Fluffy Dice or Hanging Dice or Fuzzy Dice :-) They are mostly used to hang in a car :-) They are available in many different colours and are readily available on Amazon :-)

I didn't actually know about the documentary about Linda. Thank you very much indeed for this information :-) I have done some investigation and I see it was released in the USA last Friday (6 September). I really hope we will be able to see it here in the UK. Or maybe it will be available to buy on DVD. I do hope so :-)

Thanks very much again Laura :-)
