It usually takes me a while to catch-up on news :-)

Probably, most everyone already knows that the Google Nik Software Suite is now free to download :-) I found out this news t'other day and it came as a very big and very pleasant surprise :-)

I understand that the software suite was originally priced at around $500 but when, in 2012, Google bought it the price dropped to around $150. In a move on 24 March 2016 that surprised the photo industry Google went a step further and made the entire suite free of charge!!

Needless to say I have now downloaded the suite :-)

For this Oxford shot I have used the 'Monday Morning' filter. Hence my tenuous link to "Monday Monday", one of my fave Mamas & Papas tracks. I love this cover version by Foxes & Fossils :-)

Not only is it a surprise to me that it's available for free, it's a surprise to me that it exists. I haven't a clue what you are talking about. (Time to Google "Google" I guess.) It sounds like you're pretty happy about it so I am interested especially since it is my favorite price to pay. :D

What a beautiful photo and I like the effect very much. You have chosen my very favorite Mamas and Papas song of all time, Roger, (and that's a hard one to pick.) I think the Foxes & Fossils (cute name) have a done a fantastic job on this. They are very good. Those girls have the harmonies down.

The more I use the software the more impressed I am :-) I wouldn't have paid $500 for it but I did consider paying $150 then changed my mind! But, as you say, FREE is a fave price :-))

Thanks for the link, Roger. (Looks like I might need to get Photoshop to use this.)

I also listened to this one: www.youtube.com/watch?v=DdsNy86ivec which was very pretty. They have a really nice sound.

Hi Karen. Yes, a lovely version of "When You Say Nothing At All" :-) As far as I can make out they don't have a recording contract. If this is the case I think that's terrible!! If I owned a record label I would give them a contract :-) I did find a website for them and it looked as though they have done their own cd, I did try to order it but the order process seemed to fail on me :-(
Yes, the Nik software works with Photoshop but I have been able to get the main parts of the software to work as standalone :-)

That's encouraging that you are able to use the Nik software on its own. Maybe my son can help me with it. I don't have Photoshop. I keep putting it off because I am intimidated. :-O
