A normally dry basin in eastern Oregon, actually crossed by Oregon SR 31. The basin was a lake in 2017 because of the extraordinary water year. Looking south.

slgwv club has replied to Andy Rodker clubYou wondered about Detroit Lake. They DID get clobbered. But we left just as the fire there was starting to become serious. A week later and we just about fell over from the news of such devastation. We would spend the rest of our trip, until October, running from the smoke. Horrible.
slgwv club has replied to Janet Brien clubAnd thanks! The Cascades and points west tend to get all the press, but eastern Oregon has its charms! It's a bit closer for us, too--Lakeview is about 4 hours from Reno.
Janet Brien club has replied to slgwv clubAs for E Oregon, we want to get out there but it's not as accessible and a distance from the west. I'd hoped that we could stay there some this year but it's not happening. Maybe next year but not sure...
