Desert peach

Desert peach
Prunus andersonii. A local thornbush that flowers spectacularly late April-early May, with a heavy distinctive fragrance. Altho related to peaches, plums, cherries, etc. (also genus Prunus), it has a tiny and none-too-edible fruit. Washoe Lake State Park Nevada; houses at the edge of New Washoe City are visible in the background.

That is impressive - never heard of it! I have a feeling it's just another grey-green sticker bush without the blossoms.

Almonds are from the prunus family too, and of course are very useful despite having no fruit flesh to speak of! Do they have any use at all? A distilled drink perhaps?

Per Wikipedia the local Native Americans brewed something from them, but overall they don't seem to be useful for much
