Historic (water) well derrick


On the grounds of the Nevada State Museum, Las Vegas, located on the site of Las Vegas Springs. Such derricks were used to drill water wells for the Las Vegas water district in the early years, to the point that the original Las Vegas Springs had gone dry by the early 1960s.
