Gopherus agassizii . Nevada State Museum, Las Vegas. Now endangered thru much of its historic range, mostly due to human activity. When I was a kid in Vegas in the late 50s and 60s, it was common for people to adopt wild tortoises as pets (they're not hard to catch!) That is now illegal, altho there is a captive population that is legal as pets.
