Toiyabe Crest Trail

Nevada, USA. This trail was built by the CCC in the mid-30s. It seems a curious endeavor--the area is still remote enough that (according to reports) much of the trail away from the trailheads now involves serious route-finding, due to route deterioration from the absence of traffic. And the area was _really_ remote ca. 1935! The Toiyabes deserve it, though--it's one of the longest and highest ranges (peaks >11K feet) in Nevada, and right in the center of the state. The trail would be much better known if it were in Utah or California! It runs ca. 60 miles along the middle of the range.
This view is at the northern end, looking north toward the trailhead in Kingston Canyon (below). "Toiyabe" is pronounced "toy-YAH-bee," btw.
