Beautiful downtown Ophir

Beautiful downtown Ophir
Toiyabe Range, Nevada, USA. This was probaby a commercial establishment of some sort--a store, bank, or whatever. The original silver strike, at the Murphy Mine, dates to the 1860s.
There are lots of "Ophirs" across the US west--none lived up to the promise of King Solomon's legendary mines!

The main thing is to see the old mining town. Since I'm always traveling alone (and less adventurous that David G..), I'm hesitant to go driving up really rough roads. Guess I'll just have to win the lottery and go in by helicopter...

Thanks! Yeah, it looks like they weren't expecting the town to dry up and blow away in a few years-- :)
