Uncle Bill, Early 1950s

In memory of Uncle Bill, who passed away April 10, 1984.
I remember him as a gentle, soft spoken man with a lovely Yorkshire accent that years of living in London hadn't erased. He was the cook of the house - pretty unusual for those days - and I remember him smoking a pipe. He and my Dad used to play classical music very loudly on the radio (and later record players) and conduct like mad, in tandem, with their wives' knitting needles.
He seemed easy going and patient - in stark contrast to my Dad!
But their love of music, sense of humor, chess playing and pint drinking made them such good friends.
