Statue of Cornelis Joppensz

An orphan who was sent out on October 2 to spy on the Spaniards who layed siege on Leiden. He discovered that the Spaniards had left and that they left a pot of beef stew behind. To this day beef stew – called hutspot – is eaten on October 2.
They didn't bother making it into an attractive statue.
