Inscription (once with bronze letters) set into the stone seating of the Large Theatre record the distinguished career of Marcus Holconius who commissioned improvements to the theatre during the end of the 1st century BC or the start of the 1st century AD. This inscription may mark the spot reserved for his chair which would have been positioned between the two halves of the inscription.
Translation: To Marcus Holconius Rufus, duumvir for lawsuits four times, quinquennalis, elected military tribune by the people, priest of Augustus, by decree of the town councillors. (CIL X 837).
