Lewis Merthyr Colliery in the Rhondda Valley was on of the last of the Rhondda coalmines to cease production in 1983

My paternal grandfather worked here for a while before he educated himself to pass exams for minstry training. The first of my family to be able to escape from the South Wales coal/iron industries

It's now a mining heritage centre
