A matter of opinion, though other than the removal of the road markings and traffic signs, there was little or no 'treatment' in either picture. It may look a little unworldly but that's how, at that time yesterday, it looked in reality.

This is actually the better of the two pictures because I used my wide-angle lens, which I could and should have used for the 2020 shot, to give more foreground and lead-in.

I initially thought it was the same picture, because the 'person' is still in the same place, but on closer inspection I see it's not a person, but a pot or something. That's why I thought you must have used one of your special effects on it.

Yes, the composition is better with the lefthand buildings to balance it, and more lead-in.

And this is an improved version, not that anyone's noticed.
