Sunrise on Venice

The sky changes very quickly in Venice!

Yes, they sometimes come all the way from Burma. And boats come and go just as quickly.

Yes, the speed boats went by very fast, but the two gondolas seem to be stuck.

The one gondola, yes, in both positions.

Very D, whatever.

Very D yet very popular.

On Flickr, in just 18 hours it's clocked up 1,500 views and 140 faves.

Some people like gaudy tack.

Jeder ist frei, diese Fotos aus ureigenen Gründen gut zu finden und ich finde dieses gut!
Sicher ist es bearbeitet, aber für mich zählt die Wirkung, die Assoziation und das, was es in mir Anspricht und ich mag Howards Fotos…es gibt hier durchaus eine Menge schlechtere und vor allem gedankenlos gemachte Fotos….
Ich kann mir Deine Beanstandungen nur als Scherz vorstellen, denn jeder hat hier doch seine eigene Art zu fotografieren und bearbeiten…was nicht gefällt, darf man dann halt ignorieren :)

There is indeed an element of joking between us, as Howard also Ds many of my photos.
Indeed, it was he who invented the D (which stands for 'diarr'). But my opinions are quite honest and I really do Dislike much of his work, for the reasons given, although there are a few which I really like and fave accordingly.

In this case, the original scene was quite pleasing, but he's added a Burmese sky and photoshopped the 'gold dust' onto the water.

It's certainly not a good idea to ignore his work, as the constant flattery, apart from being rather boring, might end up going to his head and inflating his photographic ego.

Thanks for crediting me with inventing the terms D and diarr, but you were actually the author. I cannot though recall these "many" (in fact any) of your photos which I have denoted as such.

And appreciation of my pictures by others isn't to be dismissed as flattery; it's as much their honest opinion as your criticisms of, as you say, much of my work.

Ich kommentiere hier nur, wenn mich ein Bild oder eine Serie anspricht, und hier ist das der Fall…da ich Howard nicht kenne, halte ich meine Kommentare kurz aber ich hab das Bedürfnis, zu schreiben, wenn mir etwas gefällt…übrigens finde ich auch Studleys Zeichnungen klasse…auch keine Schmeichelei, sondern ein „zu Papier gebrachtes“ Schmunzeln. Schmeicheleien hab ich nicht nötig, denn IP ist keine Partnerbörse :)))

You obviously had to look very long and hard to find a derogatory comment by me on one of your pictures, but full marks for persistence.
