Castle Arch, Guildford

There is much fine old brickwork in this part of the world. This is a beauty!

Thanks. It was taken in 2011 with a (then) 49-year-old Zeiss Contarex. The half-timbered building seen through the arch was painted a uniform white, including the timbers, so that bit of the picture was imported from a colour slide taken from the same spot in 1964.

If you'd waited, you might have caught me coming out of the dentist.

Yes. If you had, and stepped through the arch, you'd have found yourself in the 21st Century.

I think I did notice a spotty youth across the road whilst sitting behind that first floor window.

That was me, without a doubt, though I did try to conceal the spots with Clearasil.

Have they gone now?

Yes; it's the one consolation of not being young any more. They were so bad at the time that I had to travel in an acne carriage.

Nice architectur and nicely captured with the game of light and shadows.
