The street names around Fenchurch Street and Tower Hill are fascinating, none more so than French Ordinary Court, adjacent The Lloyds Club, 42 Crutched Friars, EC3N 2AP (just visible, left).

In the 17th century, the French Ambassador built his officlal residence nearby and Huguenots were allowed to sell coffee and pastries from a 'French Ordinary' which, in its time, was as popular as a bistro of the present day.
