Newgate Lane Realignment (3) - 28 August 2017

The long awaited work to realign the southern section of Newgate Lane (B3385) in Fareham began in summer 2017 although progress was, at first, difficult to see. The existing road between Peel Common roundabout and HMS Collingwood/Speedfields Park is relatively narrow and somewhat windy and the speed limit of 40mph seems excessive given the conditions and the number of large vehicles using the route.

The new alignment runs adjacent to the Brookers Field playing fields and it would appear that these are to be separated from the road by a substantial fence the posts for which I thought made an interesting photograph in the evening light.
